Who is this The Beginners Distance Learning Drawing Course for?

This Beginners Distance Learning Drawing Course is for absolute beginners, and assumes no prior knowlege or art experience. Wherever you live, you can do a Beginners Distance Learning Drawing Course with me from the comfort of your own home, at your own pace.

I believe we are all creative. Most absolute beginners are surprised at how quickly they develop the skills and confidence to express themselves through drawing, if they are prepared to put time into study and are properly supported.

What are the aims of this Beginners Distance Learning Drawing Course?
To develop your drawing skills, confidence, knowledge and creativity in step by step lessons from the absolute basics onward.

What Do I Learn on this Beginners Distance Learning Drawing Course?
UNIT 1: Introduction to the Basics of Drawing:
Learn the absolute basics of making simple drawings from observation.
UNIT 2: Tone:
Learn to control tone (lights and darks) using pencil, pen, pastel and charcoal, creating lights and darks to show 3-D form and effect of light on a surface.
UNIT 3: Perspective and spatial depth:
Learn to create spatial depth in drawings
UNIT 4: Creative Drawing:
Exploring more creative approaches to drawing
UNIT 5: The Human Head:
Anatomy, proportion, angles, shapes, form, shading, perspective, expression

UNIT 6: Composition and Visual Expression:

Exploring different ways of creating an interesting, unusual and expressive pictures – fundamental to taking your ideas further

Who is the Tutor?
My name is Zangmo Alexander, and I am a fully qualified Art Teacher and Artist/Photographer with 28 years' experience teaching drawing, painting and photography to adults and young people in the community, schools, mental health and colleges. I also support GCSE and A level Art.

What tutorial support do I get?
Unlimited email and phone support.

Encouraging, constructive tutorial guidance that aims be as close as possible to the conversations we might have in face to face tutorial session

Support from a qualified, knowledgeable, supportive art teacher and artist who is genuinely interested in your individual development, unique needs, interests and aspirations

Options for additional One-to-One tutoring, Day Workshops or Art Retreats in person, to supplement your distance learning. Fees for this are £20 per hour for private tuition or £50-£65 a day for small group workshops

Time to progress at your own pace to fit in with your lifestyle, without any travel costs.. While the course can be completed in 3 months, you have 2 years from enrolment in which to complete it

How is my work assessed?
We assess your work together, as this is the way you will learn most. When all the exercises in one Unit are completed, you post me all the completed work, along with your comments and questions for me. This is an important means of communication between us, and is based on the kind of conversation I would have with a student in person.

I will then give you helpful, positive constructive feedback for you to think about and explore further.

Do I get a certificate at the end?
Yes. You will receive a Certificate of Completion.

  9. All basic Art Materials you will need to start, including: 12 pencils, drawing pen, charcoal, box of 24 pastels, spray fixative, rubber, sharpener, A3 cartridge drawing pad, A3 pastel drawing pad, viewfinders, L shapes for finding composition
